Audi takes one more step forward into electric mobility launches three new electric SUVs in India. Audi enters the EV space in India with the launch of its luxury electric SUV, the e-tron, which is available in two body styles – e-tron and e-tron Sportback.


Audi takes one more step forward into electric mobility launches three new electric SUVs in India. Audi enters the EV space in India with the launch of its luxury electric SUV, the e-tron, which is available in two body styles – e-tron and e-tron Sportback. The e-tron is available in e-tron 50 and e-tron 55 variants, the e-tron Sportback has a single e-tron 55 variants. The bookings for the Audi e-tron had opened in India towards the end of last month for an initial amount of Rs 5 lakh and can be booked either at Audi India dealerships or through the automaker’s official website. 

Audi claims that these vehicles are powerful, efficient, sporty and practical for everyday driving. Some eye-catching features on the outside are platinum grey single-frame grille, Matrix LED headlamps and LED taillamps. On the interior, it is equipped with a four-zone air conditioning system, progressive steering, adaptive air suspension and Quattro permanent all-wheel drive. The e-tron has two electric motors, one on each axle. 

The e-tron 50 is paired with a 71kW battery which develops a max power output of 308hp and a torque of 540Nm. It sprints from a standstill to 100kph in 6.8s. As claimed, the range it offers is 264km to 379km (WLTP). The e-tron 55 has a 95kW battery coupled with dual motors which give out a combined power output of 402hp, peak torque of 664Nm and goes from 0-100kph in 5.7s. The claimed range for the e-tron 55 is 359km to 484km (WLTP). 

With this launch, Audi India has also announced plans to install over 100 chargers across 75 key cities over the next few months. Some Audi India dealerships will be made equipped with 50kW DC fast chargers as well.  

Commenting on the launch, Mr. Balbir Singh Dhillon, Head of Audi India, said, “Globally, the Audi e-tron and Audi e-tron Sportback continue to be the top-selling electric SUVs. There is a clear road map towards sustainable mobility and as Audi India; we are committed to developing an EV ecosystem. We have agreements in place that cover aspects, right from setting up charging infrastructure to end-of-life battery recycling. The future is electric and Audi India is ready for it.” 

The expected ex-showroom India prices start from ₹99,99,000 for Audi e-tron 50; ₹1,16,15,000 for Audi e-tron 55; and the Audi e-tron Sportback 55 is priced at a whopping ₹1,17,66,000. It is rivalled against the Mercedes-Benz EQC and the Jaguar I-PACE.
