Mercedes-AMG Petronas has presented to the world the F1 W13 E Performance model. It is a racing automobile created explicitly by the German carmaker. Its development intends to help the brand overcome challenges and eventually taste success at the Formula 1 2022 Season.

With an additional technical regulation set to be added in the car sport this season, Mercedes-AMG has decided to respond to the change by manufacturing a race car that has all the answers. MWTV, therefore, presents you with this article explaining all facts you need to know about the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 W13 E Performance model.

The Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 W13 E Performance race car and its development to adapt to technical change:

Technical regulations in the Formula 1 sport that were supposed to change in 2021 are finally being tweaked in the 2022 season. And it is to adapt to the new rules related mainly to the automobile aerodynamics that Mercedes-AMG Petronas presents the F1 W13 E Performance model.

This F1 W13 vehicle possesses an entirely new design from top to bottom. According to the team’s technical director Mike Elliot, the changes introduced, especially on the chassis side, are enormous. For this reason, he says that the attempt by the Mercedes brand is to create the W13 model, which in shape and aerodynamics is entirely different.

He also says that getting a race car into great aero shape means complete repackaging, including the electric output layout. Another change set to occur in 2022 in the Formula 1 sport is freezing specific components in the racing car, including the gearbox and Power Unit.

Development of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 W13 E Performance to power into 2022 and beyond:

For the 2022 Formula 1 Season, only one performance upgrade in the automobile is allowed, explains Managing Director of Mercedes AMG HPP Hywel Thomas. However, it has to be made at the start of the season. In addition, the ERS system upgradation must happen by the 1st of September.

Thomas also states that all these changes will impact only in 2022 but for the next few years. The introduction of these performance specifications shall be valid till 2026 when the next set of regulations is made official. Mercedes AMG has also ensured that they have accommodated regulated E10 fuel for 2022, comprising 10% ethanol and 90% fossil fuel. It has also meant that the racing car brand and its engineering team have developed an engine suitable for 100% sustainable fuel. A goal that the sport intends to achieve by 2026.

The arrival of a new driver at the steering wheel of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 W13 E Performance model:

Mercedes-AMG introduces a new Formula 1 driver for its W13 E performance model to bring in the dawn of a new' Driving' era. And he answers by the name Lewis Hamilton. This seven-time Formula 1 Champion will partner with George Russell. A Young Driver Programme graduate will drive for the Mercedes-AMG F1 team for the first time.

Entering the 2022 season with a new team, Lewis has already registered 103 wins, 103 pole positions, and 182 podiums. Toto Wolff, an owner of the Mercedes-AMG F1 team, believes that Lewis is by far the best driver of his generation in the world, and hence is a perfect choice. While on the other hand, George is the most promising driver of the millennial generation. Therefore, he feels that the partnership between the seasoned and a relatively inexperienced driver should create an atmosphere of healthy competition within the Mercedes-AMG F1 team that should eventually lead them to victory.

The introduction of the Accelerate 25 program to promote diversity in the Mercedes-AMG F1 Petronas team:

At the start of the 2020 F1 season, the Mercedes-AMG F1 team committed itself to create a more diverse environment. This program included ensuring that at least 25% of new team members belong to an under-represented community. As a result, about a 3% to 6% increase in ethnic group representation was seen in the last two years. It is significant progress, but there is still a lot more to achieve for Mercedes-AMG regarding the promotion of diversity.

So, team Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 united in its diversity, possessing a car that delivers excellent performance, with drivers capable of steering it with perfection, is all set to drive to a glorious season victory.
