Recently Mercedes Benz launched a new generation in the C-Class Series. It was followed by the German luxury car brand making it available in C 300 e Saloon and C 300 e Estate, the first plug-in hybrid models. Furthermore, both these C-Class vehicles possess an electric range of over 100 km (WLTP). The launch of Saloon is all set to be held soon while the Estate will be available at dealership stores from December. To know more about the plans of Mercedes-Benz to make available the first C-Class Plug-in hybrid cars, MWTV presents to you this article.
The ultra-modern engine that drives the C-Class Plug-in hybrids:
The C 300 e Saloon and C 300 e Estate plug-in hybrid automobiles possess a two-litre variant of the newly developed M-254 four-cylinder petrol engine. These cars, therefore, have the unique ability to recover lost kinetic energy while decelerating or driving downhill. Furthermore, they have an overall energy recovery output of now over 100 kW. In addition, these C-Class Plug-in hybrid vehicles also have an electric range that is increased by more than 100 km and a total electric output of 95 kW (129 hp).
The C-Class Plug-In Hybrid cars and their innovative operating system:
Innovation is the cornerstone upon which the operating system of the C 300 e Saloon and C 300 e Estate plug-in hybrid cars is developed. It activates the electric driving mode depending on the route undertaken. This inventive system also considers various factors such as topography, navigation data, speed limits, and traffic conditions along entire planned routes. Option for the driver who wishes to influence energy recovery rate is also available in the system. However, energy stimulation cannot be done in the electrified driving mode known as ‘SPORT’. The operation system of these Mercedes-Benz plug-in hybrid cars also allows the driver to experience a ‘One-Pedal feeling’. It only means that these vehicles can be brought from a state of acceleration to deceleration completely by electric means. More importantly, since the system communicates well with the sensors, it increases efficiency in driving.
The Battery positioning of the C-Class Plug-In Hybrid vehicles:
The position of the battery in the C 300 e Saloon and C 300 e Estate plug-in hybrid cars ensures that daily driving does not become a chore for the driver. It is simply because in these models, unlike the previous, there is no step in the boot and through-loading is also now become possible. All these changes can be seen especially in the Estate model. In which the luggage compartment floor has increased in size from 63 mm to 1043 mm. The compartment volume, on the other hand, has increased from 45 litres to 360 litres. More importantly, with the rear seats of the Estate folded, there is also space for accommodating as much as 1375 litres.
So, only time will tell whether or not the release of C-Class Plug-In Hybrid vehicles will prove to be a big hit with the public or not.
