The AMG edition of regular Mercedes Benz vehicles is always a reason for excitement for petrol-heads. This time around Mercedes Benz has rolled in their most powerful SUV Coupe – the GLE 63 S 4MATIC+ in India.
This is the 12th AMG model launched by Mercedes Benz in India. The three-pointer star just keeps on shining brighter and brighter. Mercedes wants to ensure the Indian consumer is spoilt for choice, not just in terms of luxury but also in terms of sheer power.
The new GLE 63 AMG variant comes with a host of goodies above the regular GLE variant.
The GLE 63 S has a 4.0 litre V8 bi-turbo engine coupled with a 48v EQ boost technology. This gives it 612 hp on tap along with additional 22 hp coming from the EQ boost technology. This power is handled by a 9G TCT AMG Speedshift transmission that is mated with the V8 engine. The power is sent to all 4 wheels all the time. The 850 Nm of torque from the petrol engine gets an additional 250 Nm EQ boost. This massive torque helps this SUV coupe accelerate from 0-100 in just 3.8 seconds, making it the fastest SUV Coupe in the Mercedes-Benz India portfolio.
Shod with 22 inch AMG wheels, the power is distributed to all four wheels, all the time. The AMG Active Ride Control roll stabilization is there to ensure precise and direct control even when pushing it to the limits around the corners. It has the AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive system with fully variable torque distribution. This ensures the best possible ration of dynamism, traction, and efficiency. Based on the driver’s input the 850 Nm of torque is split continuously as per the computational needs and driving conditions.
While all this power is taken care of the occupants can continue to enjoy the luxury Mercedes is known for. The GLE is no different. The interiors are finished in AMG exclusive Nappa leather and as is standard, have been adorned with AMG badging at various points on the inside, including the seats. The SUV Coupe is finished with a sporty ambience that has its exclusive flair. The AMG Performance steering wheel is wrapped in full DINAMIC micro-fiber, with aluminum paddle-shifters.
