The BMW iX1 electric SUV seems to have generated quite a buzz in India, selling out quickly at that price point. Electric vehicles are gaining popularity worldwide, including in India, due to their environmental benefits and technological advancements.
In coming to India via the CBU route, this is the fourth totally electric vehicle from the German automaker. The electric SUV will be available for reservation beginning in October 2023 on the brand's official website.
The iX1's exterior has a nearly square characteristic kidney grille bearing a bold 'I' logo, as well as adaptive LED headlights, blue highlights on the front and rear bumpers, and running boards. Aside than that, the design is identical to that of the ICE variant.
Alpine White, Space Silver, Black Sapphire, and Storm Bay are the four exterior colour options for the electric SUV. Additionally, Veganza Perforated Mocha and Veganza Perforated Oyster upholstery options are available.
The new electric SUV has a range of up to 440 kilometres according to WLTP standards and is powered by a 66.4 kilowatt-hour battery pack that assists the dual motors, one on each axle, in producing 309 horsepower and 494 Newton-meters of peak torque. It can reach high speeds of 180 kph and can go from 0 to 100 kph in 5.6 seconds. In just 29 minutes, using a 130kW DC fast charger, the battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent. But with the 11kW AC charger, it only takes 6.3 hours to fully charge the battery from empty.
The SUV's digital information display is 10.25 inches in size, while the infotainment system's touchscreen is 10.7 inches in size, both of which run on BMW's iDrive operating system. Aluminium "Mesheffect" trim and chrome accents adorn the cabin, which also features a folding rear seatback. The cargo capacity of the SUV is 490 litres.
Driver Assistance Systems including Lane Departure Warning, Cruise Control with Braking Function, Automatic Emergency Braking, and Pedestrian Protection are available from BMW. Six airbags, ABS with Brake Assist, DSC with DTC and CBC, electric parking brake with auto hold, side-impact protection, electronic vehicle immobiliser and crash sensors, Tubeless Tyres with Tyre Pressure Indicator, ISOFIX child seat mounting, integrated tyre repair kit, and pedestrian acoustic protection are also standard.
Auto Start-Stop, ECO PRO mode, Brake-Energy Regeneration, Electronic Power Steering, Driving Experience Control switch, and My Modes are BMW Efficient Dynamics features.
